GC admits students from a wide geographical range. What's most important is HSPT scores and teacher recommendations. If your child is into extracurriculars, going to summer camps for the sports and performing arts programs could help with admissions.

The k-8 Catholics do a good job of prepping the kids to get into Catholic high schools. Plus, the k-8s are generally a positive nurturing environment with small class sizes where the kids have individual relationships with the teachers and administrators.
I disagree. Seems like a waste of money to spend about $50k or so on Catholic middle school just to get into GC, which is a good but not necessarily highly selective school. I know two of our neighborhood public middle school kids got in. The HSPT weighs heavily on admissions chances but you can just take a prep course for that.
The poster said there are problems at their zoned middle school. Catholic middle school is not $25k a year.

If they have athletic ability, it will help. I've had coaches from GC approach me about my kid, promising financial aid. I said it was too far, geographically, they said they could help...

McPS are aweful. We decided to send our kids to private school after many issues with MCPS. Our daughter who was "straight A" honor roll etc... was deemed a year and half behind when she entered private school. She had to work harder to catch up and do well to get into good counsel. Currently in all honors and pre-Ap classes freshman year. Looked at statics MCPS 225 "brightest students in HS" earned around $3 million in college scholarships. Admissions are competitive but it's worth a try! Our child got in from MCPS and is happy so far. They worked hard on their essay and have a genuine interest in the service learning and religious aspects of the school. The school isn't for everyone, and there are plenty of opportunities such as the shadow day and parent events to figure out if it's right for your family. Good luck!

Ok let me be clearer. I am a Black woman. I like to dance. I like hip hop, R&B and pop music and also watch music videos sometimes. I have NO issues with Black bodies dancing. I went to this particular open house session primarily to hear the band. The dancing was too suggestive for a CATHOLIC school. It was uncomfortable for most people in the audience which is why most of them left. This isn’t public school where anything goes. The dancing was inconsistent with everything else I saw about the school at open house. Please stop trying to infuse “woke-ism” into every criticism regarding people of color. I know what I saw and so did everyone else who was in the audience. We all left and thought, “WTF??”

I am actually a fan of GC and considering it for our DC. But your assumption about the PP is unfair. Not everything is about race.
Then it’s about gender but sexualizing 14 year olds is gross and disgusting.
