My friend got a leather-look puffer vest last year (or maybe the year before?) and it is so great looking, I love it. Hers is from Zara but it'snot available anymore, but I have seen similar at the Gap and on Tuckernuck. It looks so good with black skinny jeans and a pair of boots.

Totally serious question - please explain.

If your core is warm then your body can divert energy to keep the less essential parts warm - ie your extremities. Hence a vest as another layer or on its own is useful.
If your core is cold then your body will focus on keeping core warm because you need to keep internal organs warm. So then extremities will be cold.

My core has always run hot with my arms feeling cold. Vest are no good for me.

Just try it.

Vests are the best. I don’t understand people who don’t get them. Most of the time, it isn’t even cold enough around here for jackets but a sweater and a vest works.

This is me exactly and I too have a vest collection. I don't wear them as a statement piece (to a party? oh hell no) but running errands, in my house, out for a walk. I like the LL Bean ones the most. I find the Costco ones and Athleta have higher necks which make my neck sweat. I mean welcome to my 50s? My body has no idea how to regulate its temp in certain areas like pits and neck.
