The bigger issue to me is the news media coverage.… how incredibly biased it is towards the left. I don't live in Loudoun but my friend who works at NBC actually worked on this story https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/northern-virginia/virginia-abortion-rights-could-hinge-on-31st-district-race/3441020/?amp=1
She was appalled how the need editors wanted to make Segura look bad. They purposely filmed her indoors and had her pretend looking something up on a computer while they just literally stuck the camera in his face (he actually did a good job) outside

It's really hard to really trust news anymore and after covid I think we all feel that way. How EXTREME was it that our kids’ lives were completely derailed and everything was closed for way too long based on literally no evidence just speculative. Our kids are so behind on reading and everything else. I get why people are just fed up

He moved here from Mexico.

He lived in DC itself until the last day in 2022 to qualify to run for this position. And kept that DC home while pretending to live in VA. Now getting his excuses out to rationalize that. Carpet bagger.

Yup.

https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/northern-virginia/loudoun-voters-debate-whether-length-of-residency-matters-in-district-31-race/3441917/

Perry's lived in the district for 20 years. Segura moved in a week before the deadline to qualify as a resident for the race ... AND keeps his DC condo.

"property tax records in D.C., suggest... Segura initially intended to stay in his condo there at least until the end of March 2023. He applied for and received the Homestead Tax exemption for October 2022 through March 2023, saving him $714. It wasn't until July that he sought a correction in the records, reporting that he'd moved and was not eligible for the tax break he'd received.

We asked why he hadn't notified the city sooner about his move.

"There's a few months' difference with this homestead dedication that you're talking about, but again, my whole life changed when .... my wife told us that we were pregnant," he said.

Um, bro. No. You're so incredibly full of shit. You moved here in October 2022, a week before the Nov. 8 deadline. Supposedly because your wife was pregnant? And THEN you applied for the Homestead Tax Exemption? And you didn't correct it until ... *checks notes* ... JULY?

CARPETBAGGER.

Youngkin has been very, very clear that he will sign any ban that comes across his desk. Segura might say he only supports a 15 week ban but if a six week ban gets in front of Youngkin, it will be signed.

All bans do is create confusion for doctors and harms women who are losing their fertility, and dying because doctors and hospitals these “exceptions”
Are often broad and vague.

Let doctors, not legislators practice healthcare.

I’m pro choice BUT can’t imagine anyone terminating after 20 weeks other than health is the mother (which he has been clear about supporting). He’s a solid good guy I worked for him at babyscripts.

^ I actually like his ads. His message is positive and is based on what am I going to do for you and your family. Hers are all fear based abortion blah blah . Like I’m sorry that’s not the big issue in our household
I need to put food on the table, give my kids a good education, and live in a safe neighborhood. I’m voting for Segura

I don’t know what ads you see from Segura or his proxies that are positive. Every one I have seen have been these ridiculous assertions that Loudoun is some crime-riddled cesspool and that Russet Perry is evil — the “press conference” one depicting “her” was particularly cringe and offensive.

The reason you see so many Dem ads focus on abortion rights is that is a hugely winning issue not just in Virginia but nationwide. In every election where it has been on the ballot since Dobbs, Democrats have won in landslides and this election will probably be no different.

Calling it now — Perry wins with 56% of the vote. Maybe 57.

At least they use the candidates actual words against them. Book banning is an issue in Loudoun and abortion could go away depending on the legislature. The crime message doesn't land the same in Loudoun.

The bases are locked in on the Perry v Segura race. What the 23 elections are a proxy for are what matters most to independents. Is it the economy, crime, education, reproductive rights, etc.

The outcome will help shape the campaign strategy for the 24 elections.

Naw, those messages have been helping Democrats destroy Republicans in other elections since Dobbs.

I am surprised the Dems don’t just showcase how Republicans can’t even find a Speaker of the House. But it’s more effective to emphasize what Republicans really want to do if they control the levers of power in Richmond.

Reality is everyone knows this is a proxy referendum on Youngkin, whose approval rating has been steadily dropping.

This is especially true in Northern Virginia where voters recognize how they were hoodwinked a couple of years ago.
