This is much better than sugar substitutes. Roasted vegetables are also my favorite ... sweet potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, brussles spouts, carrots, parsnips, beets etc. Chop, toss with olive oil and salt, and roast. I LOVE the sweet potatoes especially - so sweet and satisfying!!! But still really good for you.

Keto is not a fad diet and it is sustainable, you just have to trust the process. Stick with satiating fats and proteins and stay away from the highly palatable processed keto snacks. Get to the basics and stay there.

Fatty ruminant meat is more nutritious and digestible than nearly any other food for the majority of humans. Keep it simple and stick with a nice steak salad everyday or lettuce wrapped burger at lunch etc

Eggs are a great source of nutrition; leftover steak from dinner and eggs are a favorite way to start to day for me.

I find that listening to keto/carnivore nutrition podcasts keeps me motivated. I have been eating this way since May 2022 and lost over 60 pounds and have reversed full blown diabetes and Hashimoto’s. Currently I am on zero prescriptions. I am 49 years old and do not suffer from menopause symptoms either and my cycle is still a regular 26-28 days.

The health and physical changes have been wonderful and unbeknownst to me I had been suffering with a lot of joint and foot pain, I only noticed when those disappeared; same for heartburn and stomach pains. As long as I am animal based with limited plants in my diet, my gut is good. I don’t drink alcohol except for rare occasions.

I work with a lot of naysayers who question my eating habits while I have experienced health gains. They still have the same complaints about their stomachs bothering them, menopause, aches, pains, allergies etc too; while my health issues are gone!

I also found out that I am not a moderator, I am an abstainer meaning sweet high carb treats need to stay out of my diet. I can’t just take one bite of a donut, I will eat the whole thing; I have never been able to not eat an entire sleeve of Thin Mints; so I just abstain. Sugar is addictive and fake sugar is a gateway drug of sorts for me as well.

Keep at it! It’s so worth it. If you stumble (I have a ton), forgive yourself and try again as soon as you can.

Exactly.

I lost more weight just by exercise a little more than usual. It was better for my guts.

OP is also prediabetic and says she has trouble moderating sugar. So your experience is not helpful to her. No need to share on every thread, to quote you, to do so is "stupid."

You aren’t the moderator. Take a seat.
