ADHD is comprised of a bunch of different diseases, and the kids who have ADHD and ASD (formerly know as Asperger’s) don’t really have ASD - they’ve got a stand alone disorder that’s like a combo of ADHD and ASD.

Fascinating theory. I have a kid with ADHD/ASD combo and the other kids like him really seem different than the straight up just ADHD kids I know. And a lot of us question whether Autism is really a correct diagnosis (versus becoming a catch all). I think you’re right there could be some not yet named separate d/o.

Taking drugs for ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression only masks the symptoms and doesn’t solve the real problem.

I think women who eat a lot of peanut butter when pregnant end up with kids who have peanut allergies

The mood stabilizers most relied upon in treatment of bipolar are anti-convulsants that are used to treat seizures. And both are (most likely) issues that arise in the brain.

But there are also certain anticonvulsants that are NOT mood stabilizers and in fact are not recommended for people with mood disorders because it makes them worse (e.g. Keppra).

On that note though, Anticonvulsants also help with migraines and motion sickness. But then again aspirin can help prevent heart issues... some meds have multiple uses but it doesn't mean the conditions are directly related.

I have a bunch of theories about life.
Right now I am mostly thinking about how people from developed countries are losing their street smarts and common sense because their lives are so easy. At the same time, people from developing countries immigrate to developed ones and advance and prosper by using their street smarts and common sense. I guess this is my hot take on the replacement theory except I don’t think race has much to do with it, mostly one’s life circumstances.

My smaller theories are that 90% of the people have anxiety of varying degrees; that nature accounts for 90% of personality and nurture is only about 10%; that most stereotypes are actually true 90% of the time, so to save time and energy we may just as well not question our biases.
I also a big believer in seemingly unimportant but clear red flags that are telltale signs of a person’s character.
