I don’t wear pants from may - September so yeah that means flying in shorts a lot

Hey, I'd still wear them if I wasn't always cold. Just giving the nervous nellies an out.

For long flights in summer, DH wears shorts and packs pants because it can get cold during a flight as you're trying to sleep.

I find it easiest to just wear capri-length pants/leggings. I've been on freezing cold flights and ones where the AC was malfunctioning, so good to be prepared either way.

Every winter I spot a few people in the DC airports returning from tropical destination in shorts. They catch the eye, but I don't think it's weird.

Your pet peeves (I'm guessing one of many) is shorts on a plane.

My pet peeves is people who judge other people's choices that impact them not at all and then look for any excuse to say I told you so.

That has nothing to do with the appropriateness of shorts. That's just one man (your DH) being clueless about his own comfort level. If he doesn't know whether he is a warm or cold type, he gets what he deserved (to be uncomfortable).

My wife and I are different types. She brings a sweater or sweatshirt everywhere, even in summer because the A/C at many businesses makes her cold. But she is not feeling warm until it is over 80. She gets cold at 72. Me, I wear shorts and short sleeve shirts as long as I can. I get warm over 70 and don't get cold until about 62. We keep our house in the middle and I wear shorts and tee shirts at home all year round. She wears sweats at home all year round. We both know our comfort level and when we travel, we dress accordingly.

I don’t wear shorts and prefer a comfortable but closed toe shoe for this reason.
What else would you recommend?

I'd rather see someone in shorts than in their PJs, which is what many travelers seem to be wearing - whatever they rolled out of bed wearing.

I don't choose to wear shorts because although it can be hot on the plane it can also be freezing, so I'd rather wear long pants and not have my legs touching the seats in the airport or on the plane.

I dont think that is weird.

It used to be people dress nicer for a flight. Then again, people used to dress nicer all around.
I don’t wear shorts nor does anyone in my family on a regular basis. Only variance is when returning from a beachy vacation.

Not weird. Planes are basically flying busses, wear whatever is most comfortable.

I wouldn’t do it, I get cold in airports and planes, and don’t like when my skin touches the airplane seat material. But if someone doesn’t have this issue, why not? Also men’s shorts are usually are longer on the men rhan women’s and have pockets.
