Say....one of these doctors at the Mayo Clinic:

Note where they went to med school, too.

That would explain the oxygen deprivation that led to this post.

Guess you can't think of everyone.

It's certainly going to be easier to get a job out of Princeton rather than Montana State. But most students aren't choosing between a #5 school and a #895 school, but a #5 and #25, or #100 and #150. And what's really important is what you do and learn at those schools.

ha. Actually, that's a good idea.

OP, see if your kid can get into Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Duke, Princeton, or whatever fancy school you’re talking about and then revisit this idea. It just sounds like you’re afraid of life without a shiny name brand

Of course we have a vague ranking of the different universities, but your personality, experience, interests, and individual accomplishments count for more. And of course, once you are in the door no one gives a crap where you went to university.

+1000

There are only a very few areas where it matters (VC/PE and for this it's where you got your MBA not undergrad that matters, high level investment banking) beyond that it simply does not matter. FAANG hires from hundreds of schools and you start with similar pay. And once you have the first job nobody gives a shit where you went to school---they care what you did at your last job.

Stop propagating that you need an MBA for P/E or VC. Many P/E associates are graduates of GS or other IBank analyst programs. Most VCs are not MBAs…some are hired from undergrad and move up the ranks and probably more have STEM backgrounds that move laterally at high levels based on industry and/or start-up success.

You also probably know that most don’t agree with you because their own experiences or those they know are testaments to a different reality. So, I don’t understand why a post like this is made. Are you trying to self-validate? Make people jealous? Stir an angry pot? Seems like a waste of time.

Oh quit it. You're probably one of those relentlessly immature "anti-capitalists" living off of a trust fund.

For most kids, starting off your career at JP Morgan or BCG is one of the best ways to enter the corporate world -- full stop.
