Put your suitcases in large plastic bags after you travel. the bedbugs will die.

How do you do this??

My parents got bedbugs from a hotel in North Carolina. It was a nightmare! Ugh!

We went to Paris (loved it and would go again tomorrow). My wife is always a worried about this sort of stuff so we put the suitcases inside trash bags in the garage for 2 months. Any bugs and their offspring are dead by now.

These stories seem to come in cycles. There was a panic in NYC a few years back. London had its moment in the spotlight.

I am always vigilant when I travel and I scour all the hotel reviews carefully for any bedbug reports. I keep luggage as far away from the bed, even in bathroom. I check beds carefully before sleeping for the little signs, including pulling up sheets and getting behind the beds. Have found more hair than I'd like but so far so good, no bedbug infestations.

How do you know that's where you got them?

Uh cuz that’s the only place I went. Straight from the Acela to an office building and back. Enjoy your next ride.

I can get AIDS, tuberculosis, and almost every other disease anywhere too. That doesn’t change the fact that some areas on Earth are hotspots for this diseases with higher risk. Paris is a hotbed for insecticide resistant bed bugs now. Pretending like it’s the same as everywhere else is being ignorant, especially when the national government is panicking about it.

Do people even use insecticide for bed bugs? I thought they were treated with heat?

I honestly think bed bugs will be like mosquitos soon. it is so expensive to get rid of them, that is not a realistic option for most people. And they spread so easily - not just hotels/travel. You can get them from a conference room at work, a movie theater, restaurant seat.
