If you lie on the application, the school will throw your DC out permanently. Why on earth would you suggest this?


There is no lying. Applicant can legally changed the last name anytime so where is the lying? Lying is done by the schools since they say they will comply with the law (you cannot do something indirectly you could not do directly) but they are already gearing up to circumvent the law of the land.

Look at top 20 LACs. Most of them view Asians as diversity. Go look at their common data set and look at % of Asians. Focus on those with a low % which most of them have. Wish I had realized this when my dc was applying. When all the kids look so much the same demographics matter. LACs also need more boys.

Why would all this talk of whose name sounds like what matter to college admissions officers? Anyone who thinks ANY decisions are being made using this kind of thinking is totally ignorant of the process and the people who implement it.

Lee is well known last name for 1st for Korean & 2nd for Chinese (from specific region in China). I have heard that some non-Asian have Lee as last name, but I am not knowledgable enough to know where that come from.

No, they are admitted at a rate of 3 to 4 times their prevalence in the US population. I believe the statistical term is over-indexed.
