So frustrating. Our place's second level team was really easy to make last year and my dc enjoyed it. Went to tryouts tonight and there were easily three times as many kids as last year. Its the same coach so hopefully he feels some loyalty to his previous players but it was just not what we expected.

Yes that is for us. We are limited to 1 tryout (without being a zip exception) which has 1 team per grade.
At that tryout there are kids from 4 other shared zipcodes trying out for multiple teams

So it is meant to prevent super teams but some kids can shop around while others are an all or nothing deal

Well, its really irritating for tryouts to start this week and you don't even know if your preferred team matches your zip code.

Many coaches already know who their two exceptions will be before tryouts begin.
