NP. TO has not led to significant increases in URM enrollment.
But early research shows going test-optional may not be the boon for diversity and equity some had hoped. One study of 100 private colleges and universities found that test-optional admissions increased the share of Black, Latino, and Native American students by just one percentage point. The share of Pell eligible students from low-income backgrounds increased by only 1 percentage point.

Your unicycling aerial acrobat is not that interesting. I prefer a surgeon that can pass his/her medical boards than one that can fart the star spangled banner.

The essays are dunzo next cycle. It’s already a huge discussion. Chatgpt killed them and they are more apt for prep/cheating than standardized tests.
Tests will be back. Many schools are already “test aware”.

Forgot to add that colleges did report record first gen enrollments. However, first gen doesn’t equal URM. The cds for the class of 2026 has only been released by some schools over the past month and won’t be released for the class of 2027 for a year. Literally the only data we have is what the schools chose to release in their press releases describing these classes.

Their kid worked like a dog for that 1550, it’s supposed to be the golden ticket, how could it be that it just doesn’t matter?
Bc if all they got to show for the last four years, is that score & a 4.0, and nothing truly interesting, unique or compelling, then sorry - you’re boring kid.
Not the kid’s fault. I feel bad for them.
They were told that there were 20 schools on the approved list and to get in they needed that 4.0/1550 and there are only so many hours in a day, and you can’t take any risks at all.
Meanwhile the girl playing the accordion with the all-Weird Al tribute band with a following on social media who wants to major in parody songwriting got in with a 3.8/1350.
