What happened to the party? This use to be the party of free speech, anti-war, about freedom of religion and about helping the poor and disaffected that were hurt by the pains of globalization.
I have seen over the past decade the party being completely co-opted by the military industrial complex, to the point where people are foaming at the mouth over wanting to fight in Ukraine. I have seen the party completely ditch the struggling blue collar worker to get into bed with large tech billionaires. I have seen it now completely on the side of censorship and the use of authoritarian tactics when it comes with dealing with oppositional speech.
The democratic party now reminds me of the neocons of the Bush era? Anyone else get this feeling?

It’s absolutely f*ing hilarious you would post this simultaneously w/ Joe Biden - the head of the democractic party - become the FIRST PRESIDENT IN US HISTORY TO WALK THE PICKET LINE as part of the UAW strike. Like..you voted for Clinton…didn’t even say it was reluctant..you were happy then? But now you coming here to b*t*h about ditching blue collar workers? You are are a lying sack or PROFOUNDLY uniformed in the relative pro-labor policies of Biden and Clinton. Biden really is one of the most pro-labor presidents to ever exist in US history. Point blank. And the picket line is symbolic but his ACTUAL policies in negotiating this as well as IRA and several others did actual PRO LABOR things. You’re…full of sh!t. But we all knew that when you came here to advocate for poor Russia and Putin.

The New Democrats under Clinton are when the party shifted. Clinton pushed through welfare reform, balanced the budget, and supported NAFTA
Clinton was progressive but a deal maker. He negotiated mild welfare reform with the Republican House and Senate and got a minimum wage increase and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program as part of the deal. Also got them to approve the tobacco settlement that was a windfall for states to use as matching funds for SCHIP. NAFTA was started by Reagan and negotiated by Bush. Clinton got side agreements on labor and environment added and established the Trade Adjustment Assistance program with extra benefits, training, etc. for workers displaced by trade. The budget was balanced mainly because the economy was great under Clinton, we reduced or at least stopped increasing defense spending after the USSR collapsed, and no big stupid unnecessary tax cut package was enacted.

I’m with you OP but not specifically for all of the reasons you mentioned. I grew up as economically progressive, socially conservative dem. I left the party about 20 years ago. I don’t vote now.
So you prefer a white christian authoritarian state. That'll show 'em.
Neither party comes anywhere near my values. I prefer to remain honest to myself.
Voting is public transport, not a marriage. Get on the bus.
No thanks. I’m fine with not voting.
It’s weird that someone with such deep and abiding apathy is on a political forum. It suggests that you’re not quite representing yourself accurately.
It’s not apathy. I’m very interested in what’s going on. However like I said above neither the republicans or democrats come close to my values so I don’t vote. Tell you what though, just to make you happy, I will vote in the next election for either a third party candidate or do a write in. Thanks for the encouragement!

I don't understand why people like the OP come on this forum. Why do you bother if you don't like either party and don't vote? And what kind of person is swayed to vote for a third party by someone who posts on an internet forum? Very strange indeed.

Enjoy shooting yourself in the foot. When you don’t vote or vote for a third party, you’re still making a choice about which of the two parties will win. It’s adolescent fantasy to think otherwise.
I’m fine with it. Your partisanship and rhetoric have no sway over me.
IOW, "cuts off nose to spite face." Congratulations? The fact that you seem ok with that doesn't come off quite as you think it does.

Start with being honest with the positions of the party. Because you have not come anywhere CLOSE to describing the positions of the democratic party in your OP. So start with shutting down the cable news channels and Twitter, and educating yourself. Because your post shows you're not really educated about the issues, or the parties' positions, at all. Not even a little.
