Subject: DC Soccer Club

It’s a shame as someone who grew up playing in pg county 30+ years ago and have coached in dc last 3. The facilities in dc are a huge problem, there are good up clubs in the area like Dc sporting and futures in pg for kids soccer, similar to Bmore where rec clubs in surrounding cities help develop kids, but based on the current landscape once kids hit u14 if they have ambition they will jump to an MLSNext club or play ECNL hoping to keep moving up the ladder, so all of these clubs outside of the privileged ones (PPA, DCXI, DCYFC, Futures, Wash Capital united) who don’t have ECNL or MLSNext status suffer. Teams break up, kids change teams every other season. It’s a shame that, at the end of the day, kids from u15-19 don’t really have that many more options for competitive soccer in the general pg and dc areas within a 45 min drive than they had 30+ years ago.
So what can be done?

Curious if anyone has actual experience with DCSC this year. Have the coaches they hired from Arlington and McLean made a difference in terms of training and culture?
Not in the u14 girls side at least...
That coach has been at the club for awhile but was on the boys side. I’m wondering about the new coaches.

I don’t think that anyone knows what next year will be like with the addition of ECNL. There’s no harm in going to tryouts to check things out.

DCSC is a well-organized club and while they aren't super competitive, I think the coaching has been quite good from what I've seen. I don't think it's any different from other larger clubs with multiple teams per birth year - some coaches are amazing and some are not that great.

You will definitely get better training with DCXI and City Sporting than at DCSC at least on the boys side but from what I’ve seen on the girls side too.

Perhaps, but I think their training focus’s on individual development - so a lot more exercises forcing kids to learn and improve technique like juggling, quick passes, etc.
Even if u just spend a season or a year at those clubs, your player would be much improved technically.
