Subject: Have you ever traveled somewhere and absolutely fell in love with the place?
Bodensee area of Germany where all my family members live (but my mom left in 1959). Every time I go back, I can breathe. DH and I plan on living there for many months of the year once we retire in a few years.

Turkey, despite its flaws, is the only other country where I feel at home and at ease.
I also have a connection to St. John, particularly Cinnamon and Mayo Bays. It was my family’s usual vacation spot growing up. I have been back once since Irma/Maria in February 2019 and actually cried — sad for the destruction and happy seeing some of the same trees and features right where they always were.

I felt that way about Austin 25 years ago. Felt so happy and at home that we considered buying a condo there, but couldn’t stretch for $200k. Regretted that decision for many years, but have realized both that the property taxes would have been a killer and I can’t handle the ever-increasing heat or the ways the city has changed. Would have been a glorious decade+ though.

I feel this way about thailand. DH and I went for 3 weeks for our honeymoon and travelled around. I fell in love so hard! The food, the people, the beauty were all so amazing. My mom and her husband are travelling there in a few weeks and I'm so excited (and jealous!) for them. I really hope they love it as much as I did.
Yup. Mine is Thailand. I lived there for six years and plan to go back!

Yes, Alaska is awesome. Probably favorite place I’ve ever visited. My only issue is I love to hike and wander around the woods and in mountains. Alaska, and all of its bears, put me on edge, especially grizzly bears. Ditto for Montana, so I guess I would settle for Colorado, where there is only a small population of black bears.

The English countryside. Rolling green hills covered with flowers or sheep. Stone cottages. Quaint coastal villages. I must have lived there in a past life.
