Correct. We looked into it, and it's pretty much impossible to get a curb cut in Cleveland Park anymore.

The only way I see to add off-street parking is if the neighbor were willing to sell an easement for their driveway. I don't know why they would.

I think it’s nice and all it needs is rugs, draperies, and more furniture and art.

I love this house. There are some things I would tweak or change. I also don’t love there’s no off street parking, anyone know if that’s difficult to add within DC? I would ask check water issues since PP mentioned it. But I think it’s a beautiful house and I love how you can access the park.

IMO this is one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city. I’d love this house

I think it looks similar to so many other remodeled kitchens, sort of generic, but disgrace isn't a word I would use to describe it.

It looks like an apartment kitchen. It is very small. There is very little counter or storage space. Don’t even get me started on the shelves in the windows. I don’t like the style of the cabinets, counters or the appliances either. It is just sad and ugly to me. I don’t dislike the rest of the house but at that price point they did not quite hit the mark with the kitchen.

At 3.4, this is decidedly out of my price range, but I'm perplexed by the hate on this thread. It at least seems like a beautiful house in an amazing location. In an ideal world, it would still have original floors, but it was built in 1890 so the originals were probably already worn down as much as they could go. I'd obviously want to hear more about the aforementioned water issues on the block, but that kind of thing can also vary widely by lot.

Agreed. The only thing that strikes me as a little weird and not easily fixed in the kitchen is the nook that juts out into the backyard. Looks too small and angular to work as a regular dining area. An ordinary bump out or expansion would be more functional.

I would ask about water issues and speak to neighbors.

When we bought our home we saw and spoke with neighbors before we closed. After we closed we realized an entire part of our lawn (a corner not by the house but where kids play) turned into a pond if there was medium-to-heavy rainfall. So we had to put in an expensive drainage system.

Then the same neighbors we saw made comments about the pond and how they were so grateful we put in the drainage system (!) Why they didn't tell us when we first met and asked how the house was/ what they knew about work, etc is beyond me. Maybe it was because some of their homes graded onto our property...

It ended up being fine and now we have very little issue, but it was an expensive add when we first moved in. Again it had no impact on our home, but it was part of the yard where we wanted kids to play and I didn't want mosquitos breeding.

We were fortunate, we have another neighbor who has an entire french drain in addition to two sumps in their basement, so def check the water issues! (We don't live in CP).

Also, with an older home like that if you can have a sewer scan done.

What are the kinds of historical touches you would want to see in a house like this?

On the plus side, it’s a blank canvas if you like to decorate.

It looks like it has all the personality of a flip, combined with the upkeep of an old house.
