NP. Yes, I have. I appealed and had the appeal denied, and eventually paid.

I agree it's annoying. Cans are supposed to be stored on your property, but in practice just about everyone leaves them in the alley in where they're picked up and most of the time that's perfectly fine.

In my case, an inspector was there because of another bad actor on the alley who was making a mess, and I got caught up in it when he issued citations for all violations on the block.

I'm the OP. Seriously? "Blatantly broke the law"? My contractor moves our single trash can in order to have more space to work in our small front yard in Georgetown. Trash was picked up Friday morning and I moved the trashcan back onto our property mid day Friday. Our contractor moved the trashcan in order to have more space to work and they forgot to put the trashcan back on our property Friday night. The "inspector" gave us a citation at 7:15 Saturday morning. This is a blatant violation in your eyes?

Ah you live in Georgetown. It explains your indignant, entitled post.

Pay your tickets and mind your trash.

Umm, three cars windows were broken out, and the police choose to ticket cars that are legal parked while not investigating the cars that were broken into? OK. DC is being DC.

Tickets probably issued by parking enforcement, not a part of MPD.

Then make your contractor pay the fine. In my contracts, contractors are responsible for fines that occur as a result of their work

I appreciate your response. However, I more angry that inspectors or MPD officers are nickel and dimeing long term residents of DC while crime is on the rise. I think DC should reassess how they deploy the cities resources.
