I get why teens want to buy thrifted, as it is cheaper plus is reusing clothes vs them going to a landfill.

But I don’t get why from a fashion standpoint all of these teens want only thrifted jeans - no one knows if the jeans you bought were thrifted vs new, right?!

I hated JNCO the first time around! My kid was talking about those horrid things the other day. He wears everything oversized, as do his friends. Very much 90’s skater style influenced, but less massive.

Thrifted jeans are the coolest in my kid’s school. And Levi’s are always a good classic. American apparel is good, too, if you don’t get the weird washes. PacSun also has decent options.

I'm curious where different comments are coming from. I'm in northern Indiana, and most kids don't wear jeans here. My boys are 13 and 15. My 15 year old said he probably should have 1 pair. That's what lead me here.

my son loves "perfect jean company" out of nyc because they have so much softness and stretch so they are extra comfortable. they are pricey though.

otherwise he just wears athletic pants.

Mine don't wear them and neither do any of their friends. Not even many of my DD's female friends wear jeans. DD has a few pairs but she mostly wears Lululemon and oversized sweatshirts.

College aged DS has started wearing jeans, so there is hope!

Not the person you replied to, but baggy jeans on boys and low rise on girls (baggy or flares) are what the teens all wear here in portland OR. At least in the city - suburbs are usually 1-2 years behind on trends


The DC area is not exactly a fashion hub. Thinking Jeans are not popular supports this.


Girls in DC are following trends on tiktok and instagram the same as girls in the rest of the country.

My teen boy refuses to wear jeans. Says they’re uncomfortable. I agree. He doesn’t wear them.


Same. Mine has a casual pair of plain black pants that he sometimes wears but won’t wear jeans. Over the years he sometimes wears solid color pants. Never jeans.

Take your kid to a mall and have him try on some jeans to see what he likes.

My 16 yo DS strongly prefers jeans over athletic pants and his favorites are thrifted Levi 501s. They do look cool.
