I believe kids sports are about being a kid.
I believe that most parents concerns with their kids sports performance are about the parent.
But prune that bonsai tree if you must

We all have our own beliefs and ways of doing things. No one way is the best or the right one.

You’re not wrong, but there are ways to keep your kid interested in playing. Sucking the fun out of it at age 8 and not letting the coaches coach would generally be considered a bad idea.

Maybe the 7 year old doesn’t like soccer. Try something else

OP, was your daughter the one who asked to play travel soccer or is it something you signed them up for because the older siblings do it? Just because a kid is good at something doesn't mean they love it.

I've got only 1 teenage kid playing soccer. All the coaches and parents with older kids have told me that competition to win shouldn't be pushed onto kids until high school.

At the early ages below 10, simply have your kid love playing. 10 - 14, work on development and not worry about wins or losses. Then in high school, your kid will want to compete and win where losing sucks or your kid will choose another activity he cares more about.
