I’m a Gen X and am seriously concerned for our young people not being able to live with the same quality of life many of them grew up with. We don’t own three homes - just one that we live in. I wish that for everyone of all ages - if home ownership is something they aspire to.

Also IMO, the student debt crisis is immoral. We should not be burdening young people with life long debts just to be able to get work that pays the bills and contributes to society.

That said, I am not a fan of asking random strangers for handouts. Sustainable living needs to be structural not random and opportunistic.

I was at a bachelorette party this summer and we rented a boat and the MOH made a poster that said "buy the bride a drink tonight!" and but her Venmo. She got $800!!!!! From a 3 hours boat ride.

I don’t even pay strangers on go fund me requests let alone venmo. I donate to causes where dollars are accountable and the charities have high rating for making donations effective in helping intended recipients.

There are too many scams and it is not regulated/ moderated properly.

I would be very upset with our teen if she did this when she is off to college. We try to teach her to live within her means and choose colleges wisely so you can achieve your dreams without incurring life long debts.

I will buy her a solar operated coffee maker for college so she can make herself good coffee on long car rides: and not need to ask strangers for Star Bucks money.

I wish we lived in a society that provided people enough that no felt the need to beg on roadsides but we don’t, so there will always be people with signs listing their reasons for why they are more specially deserving of your money than the other beggars (and you). As with the people who walk along metro cars with signs telling you about their disabilities or veteran status or young children at home, you give them money if you feel so inclined and ignore otherwise.

I was at Glacier NP earlier this summer and saw a brand new Lexus SUV with this on it. Essentially, it had their instagram and tik tok handle on it and their venmo, asking you to follow along on their road trip and venmo them to buy them a coffee. I hope no one did.
