No. Most take Geometry.
I know all of the basis kids take geometry, is that the norm for the other big middle feeders?
Basis starts geometry in 7th grade. Some kids take it earlier.
Basis kids dont get credit for Geometry. Just Algebra I and II
Huh?
They take Algebra and Geometry I in 7th and Algebra and Geometry II in 8th. Some kids start earlier.
Sounds like Walls doesn’t start geometry until 9th.
Walls can’t start Geometry until 9th as that’s the youngest grade. What math kids take in 9th entirely depends on their middle school transcript. Basis does not code Geometry as a full credit course therefore DCPS will not give credit for it.
Most Basis kids take Pre Calc and Geometry freshmen year, AP Calc sophomore year, AP Stat junior year, and unclear senior year (maybe GW course).
If your basis kid takes pre calc in addition to geometry in 9th grade, they are only doing one elective instead of two (extra math class deemed an elective). So I wouldn’t say “most” basis kids who transfer to walls make this choice, iMO not the worst thing to push calc off until 11th grade.
So they get an extra elective senior year when they don’t need to take math. And yeah a lot choose to do it. Some even take Geometry and AP Calc freshmen year (much more rare but has happened recently).
What is the point of front-loading the math if you are not planning to take a math class senior year?

What is after Geometry/what do 10th graders take? (Do most DCPS middle schoolers come to Walls having taken Algebra I and Algebra II)?
