Agreed. If you haven't watched Dopesick, stop watching Painkiller and go watch Dopesick. MUCH better. There is no comparison.

While I love Uzo Aduba, her role in this series is to serve as a expositing prop for lazy storytelling. Attention writers: Show, don't tell. Dopesick did a much better job.

I will give credit to the real people who introduced each episode of Painkiller. Their emotions somewhat helped redeem the rest of the show.

The fact that doctors were changing their minds about this drug because a couple of young pretty blonde showed up trying to sell it to them tells me everything I need to know about our medical system here in America. It is gross and drug company should not be able to buy doctor's approval and prescription of medication. Which is totally what happened here. I think the doctors are more to blame than the actual pharmaceutical company.

Binge this over the weekend and I have to say even though I think the sackler family is a big flaming pile of garbage, it is the doctors who completely overprescribe this medication and did not do anything to help their patients find alternatives.
I don't know. I just have a hard time feeling. Sorry for everyone involved when people abused this medication and it was way over prescribed.... Again, that is the way the sacklers wanted it, but it really only worked if everyone played the same game.

My grandma was on oxy for horrific RA pain. The drug made her able to move and live. It also made her addicted. She never took more than her allotted dose but one day ran out and didn't get new meds in time. She had a withdrawal seizure and never recovered. She had zero idea she couldn't just stop taking it. Yes it stops pain but it still causes addiction

Drs are supposed to know the what and why, they have studied a lot of chemistry and biology to understand the what and why a certain drug functions the way it does
Drs, nurses and even social workers and police know the signs of addiction
Your grandmother trusted a dr who did not care about her interest. She would have been better off putting up with the pain

Doctors are jerks, happy to ruin lives knowing that the person is going to be a repeat customer

I watched two episodes and just couldn’t finish it. It’s like a bad after school special/90s Lifetime movie.
