My son used to lose some of his recess because his learning disability slowed him down. He needed more time to finish the work.

You can buy extras at the $ store for home, car, office, purse. Start using your head for something other than a hatrack!
OP, don't engage with this sock puppeting troll. They're just trying to stir the pot. Probably a bored middle schooler for whom camp has ended and school hasn't started. Instead, talk to the teacher and, if needed, the division head about the school's policy on taking away recess and how a missing signature fits in. See what they say and whether it makes any sense. I'm a school administrator (outside of the area) and it's hard to imagine justifying this, but maybe something is getting lost in translation.

Is this school inflexible and overly punitive in other ways? The beauty of private school is that each school has a different approach to discipline and expectations and families should choose the school that works best for them. Personally, this incident would have me questioning if I want my child to stay at the school, unless the principal immediately responds with apologies to you and your child and a plan to provide the teacher more support.

My kid is also in private in moco. Her whole class lost recess once and I was livid. It was during Covid so the only time they could take masks off and have fresh air.
I emailed the Principal and copied the teacher that this was not ok. Principal was new but said he agreed but as it wasn’t explicitly in the handbook the teacher didn’t technically do anything wrong but it would be in the handbook going forward. I put in writing that if my child ever has any behavioral issues needing a consequence that I am to be notified and we will come up with something appropriate together. Losing the once chance at exercise/fresh air they get a day is not it.

Was thr signature related to activity for recess? Like you had to sign to have your kids use the equipment? If not, then this is completely unacceptable. You should make your concerns known but also keep a vigilant eye because this school doesn't seem to understand how to handle children appropriately.

DP. I've got lots of reading glasses for different places. Most people do - that's why they sell them 2 or 4 at a time. "Couldn't find my reading glasses" is on par with "my dog ate it".
OP may have learned something from this. Her DC may have learned something from this. Maybe.
