Ugh, I would never live in San Antonio

Where in Hawaii? Regardless if your answer, I’d pick Hawaii!

The only place that I'd live in Georgia is Atlanta. Anywhere else is way too southern

Hawaii.

My daughter's best friend graduated SMU last year and loves living in Texas. She has no plans to move back to Hawaii.

I have a close friend who lives in Hawaii and I don’t think it’s all that when you live there. Island fever is real. The cost of living is astronomical. Traffic is bad.

Augusta, GA just sounds kind of meh. I don’t know much about it.

San Antonio is a legitimate city with vibrant communities. And it’s closest to your family.

I should add my relatives and friends who moved to Texas really like it, despite the wacky [politics. None of them are planning to move, including my Hawaii friend who moved to Austin.

My family moved to Hawaii from the DC area in 1979. Half of us loved it, some of us did not like it. I am in the latter group. I arrived in high school and left for college, never moving back. Great for a 2-week vacation, though. If my parents had not bought their house in 1979 they would not be able to afford to live there.

I would choose San Antonio. No way Georgia. My friends who moved there for work (throughout the state, not just Atlanta) can't wait to get out.

What do you mean?

I would check out the cost of living, consider the school quality, and contemplate the traffic so you know the commute, etc.

San Antonio - Great city; no income tax, but property taxes are often as high as much bigger homes in DC because they have to make up that tax somewhere. If you are not used to the heat it can be brutal. And while you can easily get to the hill country which is lovely, the traffic is also brutal from San Antonio to Dallas. Overall, Texas is not as cheap as it used to be so you may not get what you are expecting for the cost.
