Exactly. Laws are not about stopping crime or bad things from happening, laws are about punishing people after the bad things happen.

Guns are the only way to prevent violence from happening.

I’m Canadian, and I will say I don’t get the US fascination with the gun, but once that horse has fled the barn, it’s hard to bring it back.

I know people with guns here. Hunters, sports shooters, etc. Sure, some the bad guys have guns but in general they’re inflicting danger on each other. Yes, occasionally innocents get in the way but it’s not the norm daily that people who are just mentally ill or whatever instead of actually die hard criminal are getting guns and shooting up random schools. Even here, the kids learn lockdown drills, but I don’t worry about buying my kid light up shoes because of guns. Nor do I believe that more guns stop gun violence.

Lots of us would love more restrictive gun laws, buy backs, regulation of ammunition etc. but are held hostage by politicians in bed with the NRA and the MAGA crazies who support them. It they sucks.

Also upthread there was a moronic PP who dismissed gun reform because people will get guns unlawfully anyway. It’s absolutely wild to me that guns are the one exception to passing laws under the rationale that people would … break the law anyway. If that is the case why do we have any laws? Hi OP. Sorry for the unhelpful responses.

My school does darken the room. We have a shade that drops over the little window in the door, and we close the blinds. The main reason is to make it harder for an intruder to see into the locked classroom (and possibly attempt to shoot through a window, etc.) It’s not about hiding from someone who is IN the room. I don’t think light up shoes or glow in the dark clothing would be an issue.

The best protection is the locked door.
