I don't care why Brooke Pinto is on the Council, how she got there and what her agenda is. All I know is that she is the only one showing initiative, over the course of a few years, to combat the crime issues this city faces.

Keep on complaining, but if crime rates do not decrease soon, we will not have a viable downtown as businesses continue to shut down and leave the city. Which means no one will want to be in DC, and jobs will go away, and people will move away.

Ask your council members why aren't making crime the VERY FIRST PRIORITY RIGHT NOW.

It's important to get primed on the history of DC, know the churches (a big part of the fundamental black history), AND know what a boon gentrification has been for many parts of the city. Did you know in many areas it was led by LGBTQ communities? The black churches are anything but progressive (maybe you don't know the history?) And would love a return to law and order and to stop conducting so many funerals for young people. DC is a city full of contradictions, as anyone who knows the history could speak to. Since someone who declares themselves conservative can't win in this city, any moderate candidates will be undercover in some way or shape. I put Tony Williams in this category - his actual policies were no different than if he was a declared independent or a Republican. What he gave us was reasonable governance - he was a moderate "something" which was all crave. I'll judge Brook Pinto by her record, not your suspicions or classism. So far, I'm liking that she has a crime bill that is not whackadoo like Allen's. If these two represent the choices, I'll pick Brook Pinto. I'm sure black churches like that too. Fewer burials potentially, fewer commemorative t shirts, more whole families. Wish it went further.


Bet that that the bolded person above is a white liberal transplant. Brooke is the only sane member on that Council right now. We need 12 more of her.

Everyone I talk with loves her, and I don't live in ward 2 or ward 3. People in this city want a practical person who is not afraid to talk about crime.

Agree but think she is more valuable on the Council. There has to be at least 1 voice advocating for public safety not the rights of criminals.

So she's too woke for you? I don't hold any of our council in high esteem, but it's helpful if you give policy or action specifics (like Frumin pushing vouchers in CT Ave was a disaster for Ward 3) than just post links. How she got her seat I don't care about - that's politics in America $$$ unless we the people change things. Hoping people won't use the system is just a hope, not a plan.
