URM has gone up but there was an indication in some reports that scores have gone down and at TPMS there was a reference to teachers working hard to make sure some students were able to keep up with the curriculum. You can agree or disagree with this process but facts are facts.
1) there’s no indication that scores have gone down
2) the cohort of kids starting high school this year did not go through the magnet lottery for middle school, so whatever you are suggesting about TPMS teacher reports doesn’t apply to this group.
So, please, take a second look at your “facts”.

This thread is about high school magnets. If you would like to relitigate the discussion of middle school programs, there are plenty of threads for that.

If you look at the old MCPS reports to the board and other documents you will see that they use proxies for race and have been very obvious about it. That is the whole point of the revamped admissions process. To admit URM students.

Sigh. MCPS also has all grades but like the racial makeup that info IS NOT SHARED with the selection committee. They have made it very clear again and again IT IS A RACE BLIND SELECTION.
This is too literal. It is not really race blind. They may not look at the demographics box in your student record but they look at proxies and they prioritize people who look like they may be of certain races due to being ESOL, FARMS or having other parts of their background that align.
You know, looking at the demographics of the most "prestigious" magnet high schools, that really does not seem to be the case. I mean, look at RMIB or Blair SCMS. Those programs are heavily white and Asian, and UMC. So, yes, someone "could" look at proxies but there is absolutely no proof that they do or have done.
Look at the pictures. Blair is not heavy white.
No, it is predominantly Asian, which still goes to the point that Blair is not prioritizing "people who look like they may be of certain races due to being ESOL, FARMS, etc"
PP is making an argument that MCPS is using low-key racial preferences for kids who are predominantly FARMS or ESOL, but we can look at the photos and see that it not true.

Fine. You know everything. When we are told exactly what info the selection committee receives (very little) then they are lying because you know better than they do.
For anyone else, they get the essay, the relevant grades, the relevant MAP score and NOTHING ELSE. They don’t know your school, your ESOL status, your race, your address or anything else, United you mention it in your essay.
And btw, Blair magnet is heavily Asian, with very few who are not Asian, including white kids.
