It’s not close to SEDC, but MVP Dolphins summer team is at the GW pool in NWDC, and you do not need a pool membership to join the team.

If summer swim is a priority, then you should move to the burbs.

DC is noticeably absent on the sports scene.

New Carrollton pool - NCR team swims in Prince mont - smaller division, low key. No wait list. If you’re coming from southeast, NCR might be easier for you to get to than Takoma, from 295 or Kenilworth.

Montgomery County has a shortage of indoor pools, and outdoor public pools. But lots of neighborhood pools. And the Montgomery County Swim League is a very active and fun league.

We have a friend in DC whose "summer pool" is the indoor pool at Wilson Aquatic Center (Jacson-Reed HS).

The upshot is that there is a big shortage of swim opportunities in DC, unfortunately. So just look to the suburbs, rather than trying to find one of the few opportunities in DC.

Hmm, what was happening in the 50s and 60s when these private community pools were all founded? It's really a mystery why suburban neighborhoods would heavily invest in private pools as opposed to funding public pools during that time frame. I guess we'll never know

Yes you can. The only reason you are “recommended” for Junior Wave after a try out is so that you get a consolation prize for not making the team. Anyone can sign up for junior Wave (if the right age) and a try out is not necessary.

Are you sure? That’s not been the case in the past and DC Wave coaches know nothing about Junior Wave. Plus there is no way to transition from Junior Wave to the actual team other than a try out the same way as anyone else.

Yes, for the past two years, you’ve needed a code to do junior wave which only comes after an assessment by DC Wave coaches. Unsure how it was run before that but you can’t just sign up on the site.
