This is not accurate. BC has no real CS or Engineering programs. It’s really quite pathetic.
Did I miss something? Where did OP say Stem, CS, Engineering major?
I agree with the prior PP's assessment (BC better school, network, brand - and would add best location), but obviously major matters when choosing schools. But I'm guessing it's not engineering if Colgate (only joint program) and BC (very new program) are on the list.

Impressive as they are not known for merit aid.
Thank you. Yeah. We were shocked.
Did your DC accept? If not, where did he enroll?

Lehigh and BC are not LACs.

Reasonably high stats -- 3.92 unweighted, but mixed in with all those As is a C+ in APUSH in 11th, ughhhhh. 1500 SAT. Has consistently taken the most rigorous classes, great ECs, essays and rec letters should be strong.
We go back and forth between applying ED1 to Lehigh and probably nailing it down and being done, vs. shooting their shot at BC and Colgate -- for some reason Colgate is a tough admit from our school; 0/7 last year and 1/11 the year before. TBH I don't think Colgate is a great fit anyway, but for some reason my son is enamored with it. We are full pay so that helps at need-aware Colgate, I guess.
Full pay is a big help at any one of those three schools.

Aim higher. Emory/WashU/Cornell level for ED1. Notre Dame and Georgetown EA. BC ED2, and Lehigh/Colgate RD.

Very intense drinking and drug culture. Lots of greek, and treatment of women is straight out of 1965. This is very much an us-and-them school for prep school types.

Anonymous wrote:What's your ED strategy?
ED1 BC
ED2 Colgate
RD Lehigh
????
Or is Lehigh getting so competitive that if you don't get accepted to BC or Colgate ED, forget about getting into Lehigh RD?
Is the better strategy:
ED1 BC (or Colgate)
ED2 Lehigh
????
Student has a slight preference for BC but loves all three. Thanks!

Not true. BC just opened the new 245 Beacon Street - Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society. 150,000 square feet of new space. Focal point of their new $300 million initiative in the sciences.
"Features include office and laboratory space for researchers and engineering faculty, and teaching laboratories that include computer science robotics. In addition, there are maker spaces for prototyping research, a clean room, and collaborative space for faculty and students. The new facility also houses BC’s Computer Science Department, Engineering Department, and the Shea Center, as well as classrooms."
If you want your kid to be an experiment. The inaugural engineering class was admitted for 2021 and consists of 28 students.
