I don't think the TPMS rumor is true. A large percentage of the kids that were at the open house in the spring were TPMS magnet kids. Rumor was more than 40-50 accepted.

No, because there are more qualified kids than magnet slots, and the magnets are too far a commute for many people.
I agree that there are more kids who could handle a magnet than there are slots, but if OP’s homeschool is Blair then commute isn’t the barrier.

MCPS has an outline on its site for last year's process. In the past they listed the factors. That may be there somewhere.

Okay so I’m going to call your bluff. Since when does MCPS list name and school attending after graduation? Or even percentages who attend a place like UMD. I’ve seen (sometimes) a noted student article on one student - but that’s it. I don’t have dog in hunt. Disliked MCPS vibe for my kids so left it pre-pandemic.

Please show us the data that top MCPS grads are not getting into UMD. It has gotten harder for everyone to get into UMD (more people are applying for the same number of spots), but, I don't see any evidence at my school that the top kids aren't getting in. Remember, grade inflation has hit MCPS hard. Just because they have a 4.0+ doesn't mean they are a "top" student.

Nothing wrong with kids going to UMD. Its a great school and affordable for most of us.
