DP. I was just looking at kids athletic joggers that are $20-24 a pop (All in Motion brand). I can usually get them cheaper at Children's Place, H&M, Old Navy, etc. BUT my kids are really rough on pants and we end up with so many holes in joggers. Target has a pretty generous return policy so I think I'm going to get all of older DS' pants from Target this school year. If they hold up and I can pass them down to my younger DC, great. But if they don't I can at least take them back and get credit rather than having to patch or pitch them.

13 year old DD wears mostly Art Class and In Motion from Target, and sometimes Justice. Aeropostale has good, cute clothes in small sizes mostly on sale. American Eagle is pricer but you can sometimes find good deals. Lucky Brand jeans are her favorite. She also likes Abercrombie, Hollister, and Altar'd State. For shoes, look at Nike (they have a sale rn), Crocs, and Art Class.

I have a rising 5th grader. Up until now I've bought online with minimal input from her, but she's started expressing a preference. For example, she asked me for a crop top (don't flame me, we discussed rules for wearing it) and chucks, so I found a cute crop top online and asked if she liked it. For the chucks, I told her we could go look for them or something that looks like them in person before school starts, and that we could go to Old Navy or H&M and pick out one or two outfits. The rest I'm buying online (I aim for neutral basics so she's never dressed too young/too old or considered "out of style" even though I won't buy expensive brands). So far this has worked for us, but of course, YMMV depending on your kid, her peer group, your SES, etc.
