My question was more if any of your team dues were paid to the pool for any reason such as to pay lifeguards or pool maintenance. Or conversely, I have heard of some pool’s underwriting the team banquet or subsidizing coaching salaries.
Yes, after they pay the coaches and pay for ribbons, printer ink, new stopwatches and team t-shirts, anything that is left of that $25,000 goes straight to the club’s main budget. It’s not like they have separate shelves in the pump room that says “chemicals just for swim team” and “chemicals for the rest of the day.”
What about pasta dinners, spirit stuff for meets, all star swim caps, team breakfasts, etc? We spend a lot more than $25k every year, though we do have 200 swimmers.
Our Pasta Dinner is a potluck, they don't give out spirit stuff except to the team rep's kids and their friends, no all star swim caps or breakfasts. Not sure where all of our money goes as we only have one coach.
Are you saying kids of your team reps get spirit wear for free? How would you even know that? Sounds like you need to volunteer more as you clearly don’t know how these things work…
I know because we both volunteer a LOT, far more than our share.
How much free spirit wear? The A Rep does A LOT!! If their kids want and free shirt, or towel, or pajama pants, it kinda worth it. They put in sooo much work and put up with sooooo much crap for swim parents. If we could keep a rep with some free stuff, we'd do it in a heartbeat!!!!
