20% at a sit down restaurant, food delivery, or salon/spa service. 0 for take out. A few bucks at a coffee shop only if I’m sitting.

I used to aim to be a generous tipper and always gave 25%+. Now all these restaurants add a Covid fee, wellness fee, service fee, and still ask for tips. Even corner store by me that asks for tips for buying an overpriced six pack!

Ridiculous! When I'm prompted I hit no tip. I still consider 15% decent and 20% good. If they want more then that, they need a better job. Once the employers have a hard time with staffing they will raise wages. It's called capitalism.

No, no. You stay home and have the place close. We don't need as many restaurants as we have.
I'd rather have few with good food and good pay, than so many with shitty food, service and workers. Because you keep going and keeping them alive, the workers suffer.

Since I can do basic math and can think for myself, I don't need to rely on the "standard" tipping options and can just choose what I would like to tip. Its that simple.

I tip for 3 kinds of people:

Table service waiters
Hair stylist
Salon employees (nails, massage)

I don’t like when the pre-set amounts calculate the tip off of the taxed amount. The tip should be calculated off of the pre-taxed amount.

I'm not gonna encourage this crazy and toxic development of the tipping culture. I pay 15% (pre-tax based) for table service and strictly 0% for take-out and everything else. It has nothing to do whether I can afford it. You don't shame people to give you more money for doing nothing just because they can afford it.

I'm not putting the squeeze on anyone. I don't employ these people. The employers who refuse to pay living wages does. Why we insist that consumers pad their salaries because employers refuse to is beyond me. but sure, blame everyone but the employer.
