How long does each stage tend to last? The doctor said my son was early stage 2 at his 13 year checkup.

My son was at his full height (5'10) by the time he turned 16.

Most (not all) boys stop growing by end of 15th year.

I think you hear about the late growers a lot because they’re talked about a lot because people are worried about them being short and entering puberty late.

No one gets the X Ray unless they see an Endo or break a bone. More for late bloomers

Can’t be sure but my 5’11” 15 yo son doesn’t seem to have grown into his feet yet (based on family patterns). He started puberty ~13.5.

I'm curious about this too. I thought my son was done growing by 15 too (he was 5'10" then) but in the past year he added another inch and a half and is 5'11" 1'2 right now.

Your doc may be looking at his growth rate over the past few years and maybe also family history for height.

Yes. My friend (male) has been the same height since we were 15. He's 5'4.

Not at all. I was just observing that it was odd there wasn't a wider range. Uupon reading the PP' post again she said "many" I think, not "all".


5'9" is the average American male height
