Hi all! I will be teaching sixth-grade English (language arts; not ESOL) for the first time starting in the Fall. I anticipate that I will be teaching between 125 - 150 students at the largest middle school in the district.
An astounding 68% of the students are economically disadvantaged, so I plan to provide them with as many basic tools they will need to excel in my class as I can and to make a mini-library in our classroom in an effort to raise their relatively low reading levels compared to other schools. My own mother was illiterate, so one of my main missions in life is to share my love of reading and writing with students.
I have already I nvested over $450.70 of my own money in teaching materials, so far. There is still a lot left on my Teacher Wishlists and I would appreciate any assistance with the enormous expense. FYI: you can claim up to $300 deduction on your taxes for charitable donations, which I will be taking advantage of! Please see:

Thank you for your kind consideration!
