You will not have any issues OP. Your fears are unfounded. However you will encounter a lot of disgusting tattoos and people wearing highly unflattering swimsuits. I actually prefer the Indian and Muslim families that go. They are never tattooed or dressed inappropriately. So more of you need to go, so that I don't see as much of them. We have been to a few GWL locations and one time I saw a man with a full back tattoo of some kind of semi automatic weapon and I thought that was repulsive for many reasons. I would think of the prices are high enough it would deter some of these people from booking. I have gone to the Williamsburg location after Christmas when it's very expensive and it was mostly people from NOVA which was nice. Cheers!

We just got back, and it was very diverse in terms of race, age, religion, physical ability. Saw lots of guys wearing nail polish, some different guys with tattoos.

I do think it was a bit overcrowded - the lines were quite long for everything, enough that it became frustrating (especially check in and magic quest).

The drive from DC was...well, a drive up and down 95, which sucks pretty much no matter what. I thought it would be a bit easier than getting to Williamsburg, but it wasn't really. I don't drive a lot though.

The facility is new

Interracial (black/white) family, went this past weekend and met up with two other families - Asian and interracial (Asian/white). The park was incredibly diverse in both staff and visitors. We went off property for dinner one night to Newark, DE and it was very diverse there too.

DH is from Maryland and he said that this was the "middle of nowhere" and he'd gone to college with a girl from the area who talked about how Klannish/backwater it was, but the GWL itself didn't mirror that vibe.

I really want a thread for issues of concern to people of color. Or would white ladies get on it JUST to say we don’t know our own realities?

I posted above that it is a silly thread and I’m not White. Sorry that you feel my opinion is invalid. But I’ll still feel free to express it.

You being non white and thinking it “silly” doesn’t make it less of a concern for PP. You could have just shared that it was not a concern for you as a nonwhite person. No need to belittle other people’s concerns.

I don’t know why it so hard for people to share their realities without putting other peoples concerns down just because it doesn’t match with their realities.

That’s how I feel about Six Flags but my kids loves it.

Six Thugs is dangerous.

The crowd itself is very diverse as are the employees and I didn't see any weird/racist behavior. As for the surrounding area in our experience you park the car, enter, and don't leave the bubble until checkout.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a question about the logistics of when one can enter the park. If I check in on Sunday and checkout Monday, I can visit the water park on both Sunday and Monday right? Including Sunday morning when the park opens at 9 am? Is that correct? Can any one provide clarification? Thanks!

You cannot use the park Sunday morning on the day of check in. You are allowed to start using the water park at 1 pm on check in day (this is clearly stated on the website). On the day of checkout, you can get a late checkout for an extra fee. You are able to use the water park until checkout time.

No, that is incorrect. You can use the water park on the day of departure all day, until it closes. "You can access the water park from 1:00 p.m. on the day of your arrival until close of departure date."

They really jacked up the rates at the Perryville location. Williamsburg location now has great deals comparatively. I’m disappointed.

The people of Frederick, Washington, Carroll, Charles, and Anne Arundel counties would disagree.

Every county in MD allows it. It's unconstitutional for government to discriminate on who they rent to.

I believe you can start using the waterpark at 1 p.m. or thereabouts the day you check in. You go to the front desk and they give you your bracelet to get into the park, which you'll use as a room key. If your room isn't ready, they will text you the room number when it is.

You can use the waterpark until checkout time, if I'm not mistaken.

You are correct about arrival.

But on the day you check-out, you have full access to the water park for the day. We typically check out and then head to the water park and stay the day. We have lunch at the park and then we stay until 4-5 pm and then leave. We get dinner on the way home.

Just pack a bag with swimsuits and whatnot -- there are changing rooms and lockers -- and leave your luggage in the car. Get it when your room is ready.
