The 2nd grade benchmark doesn’t help at ALL for you right now. I have no idea why they included it. It’s a different test (for example- I think starting in 2nd they add reading comprehension— Or some other reading fluency score in addition to the other components of literacy like phonemic awareness and nonsense words that they start in K)

My 2nd graders scores included first grand bench marks. Zero idea why.

APS teacher:
DIBELS: each year’s test is different so you can’t compare benchmarks across grade levels. Students are only tested in a single passage each b, m, and EOY. It’s a benchmarking test and does not give us your student’s “level” if that makes sense. If your child is in the blue range, they are considered “advanced” compared to the norm group nationwide but it doesn’t tell us their level. Green is proficient and what we want to see for all students. The test is heavily weighted on fluency words correct per minute/WCPM, so if your student was below the benchmark for that even by 1 word, they cannot be in green overall.

-MI. I have a middle schooler who is also showing “Q” as their MI score, not sure why. The scores for this do cross grade levels and the test is adaptive meaning it keeps going up until your student hits the limit of their knowledge. Teachers rate students as to their math ability at the end of the year overall (above, at, below, well below) but otherwise we are not asked for any input for students to go into pre-algebra for 6th. The rest is based on test scores from SOL, MI, and a 3rd quarter APS assessment we had to give. We don’t get any other information. They don’t tell us the benchmark scores for any of it.

Did they start high? We didn’t have much growth but the teacher said it was expected due to the starting point

Wondering how you were able to access the math scores, etc.? TIA

That message is on the log in screen but nothing prevented me from logging in. Note I use the web version not the app.

Thanks, I tried both versions. Then it occurred to me that they may have locked our family out of the ParentVUE as we left school early this year to travel overseas. I confirmed it with the school admin this morning, only they haven't gotten back to me on how to regain access so I can check both of my kids' math scores. At least they're still registered for the upcoming school year which I was really afraid of may have happened. Nothing to do but wait. My DC's 5th grade teacher had indicated he/she would be recommended to do advance math in middle school but it wasn't final until the math test results were out etc.
