Just keep in mind many of these selections are made prior to tryouts, so go into this with the right expectations for yourself and daughter. The politics mean the best players do not always make the top team. Not great it works out this way but this is how it’s been and really boils down to 3-5 announcements and a majority of confirmations of who was selected prior to tryouts. Unfortunately the work and politics put in long before tryouts have a bigger impact than the actual tryout.

Anonymous wrote:Maybe this is your DD, otherwise this is gossip. I would only move out of DMV if I knew she was going to be taken care of. Unless the girls are like Hannah Rudolph or Rassas level player, the Balto clubs are going to take care of their "own" first. These clubs were founded for that reason. M&D McD, SW NDP, yes the rosters have evolved, but don't be fooled, Baltimore parents do not want an "outsider" coming in so the clubs cater to their local HS players first. Remember, college roster lists where you went to HS, (club is only listed in some players bios), so Balto clubs want their local HS players to succeed first, everyone else is for the $ and general goodwill if they can make the team.Anonymous wrote:

2027 Cap, SW, MnD are all on July 10. Hero's are invite only. Crazy, but you have to pretty much put your eggs all in one basket if you aren't on one of the teams already. I'm not sure if clubs will ever make it more convenient for girls to tryout multiple places.

The amount of bad information posted on this site as if it were a well-established fact is silly. The clubs mentioned don't care where the players come from or which HS they play for. End of story. Ignore anyone who overthinks it.
I wholeheartedly agree there is bad info on this board. BUT I also look at the same info and reach a different conclusion: my experience is that HS does matter with certain clubs in certain situations. Sure, any team is going to take the next Charlotte north, so to speak, but I have seen clubs take a girl from a HS the coach has ties with over another girl from a random school, who is better but maybe not a head and shoulders better. So HS can matter.

Exactly, false. Look at the Capital data and make-up between Blue and Orange. The top athletes will be fine no matter what, and that is a smaller percentage. Glad the DMV folks feel welcome in Balto, but people talk out of both sides of their mouth when their DD is concerned. When it comes down to recruiting time, the middle and bottom players, a SPSG girl will be put ahead ahead of a DMV player.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Maybe this is your DD, otherwise this is gossip. Yet SW and MnD have girls from Colorado playing for them. DMV parent with kid playing on an A MD "Big 3" team. Never felt like an outsider and my DD loves her team.
