Wrong. There are many, many couples with prenups that are in long lasting marriages.

The ones that fail are due to the same reasons as many others, that there is one person who is dishonest in the relationship In this case, it is the person who is trying to break the prenup. They agreed to one thing, signed a legal contract to that effect, but did not have the intention to actually live by that agreement. They are now trying break their word and try to take more out of the marriage than they agreed to. Dishonesty is the root of their problem.

They’re not that hard to get favorably interpreted and “interpreted” in ways that would make corporate lawyers blanch.

Do you mean it's easy to get them invalidated?

Do you not know what the word interpreted means? Just trying to understand why you might be confused by the post.

Easiest to prove if they've been disbarred for it, but if not - maybe they gave advice which goes against industry standards. If you were forced to use your husband's lawyer/law firm and didn't get to pick your own. If you were rushed into signing - like the day before the wedding.

Dear legal secretaries,

Please, for the love of God, don't give legal advice.

Love,
An actual lawyer

OP: Consult a lawyer, preferably one experienced in challenging prenups

See this is why we love lawyers. Not.

This. Always be negotiating.

My partner was like this and guess what he is now: divorced. Alway negotiating is a hateful, selfish, exhausting way to live.

It's supposed to be Always be Compromising. That's how good marriages work.

They bring the same attitude to the marriage contract.

The OP never indicated their gender. Your misogyny is showing.

Not mysogny. Statistically speaking it's a very educated hypothesis.

Women get pregnant and divorce all the time. The prenup may stand, but child support cannot be dictated by a prenup
