So is arsenic and sulfur dioxide. Doesn't mean you want them in your food.

Uh. Well. Hate to break it to you but both occur in food.

Ummmmm yes, very good. Now how much do you want to tolerate in your food? That was the point of the post.

No, someone was looking for all natural ice cream. Whatever that means.

I think the OP just didn't want like gum addition ves in ice cream because they change the mouth feel in a way she finds unappetizing, and figures ice creams that advertise as "all natural" are less likely to have them. Not that OP is obsessed with all natural ice cream.

I've personally found that I can enjoy ice cream with stabilizing gum depending on the recipe. I think Tillamook does a good job with this-- I don't notice the gum texture in most of their flavors except the vanilla. I think vanilla is the hardest flavor to conceal it in. For that I used to like Breyers but now struggle to find a good grocery store vanilla.

I tried the Breyers Vanilla.

What a world of difference from Haagen Daz Vanilla.

It’s ridiculously high in fat, sugar and calories. WAY higher than any other brand.

Yes. The fat and sugar act as preservatives instead of the gums.

These food ingredient posts make no sense.

All natural ice cream could easily contain guar or xanthum gum because both are natural substances and not synthetic. Also, “all natural” is essentially unregulated, so it’s applied based on the company’s risk tolerance and not with any uniform criteria.

You can easily google “gum free ice cream” if you think this is an important characteristic to shop for in your ice cream.

I realiz this is an old thread, but: Moorenko, a local company that doesn't use stabilizers and the like, is in lots of local stores and they also have their own scoop shops.

Because, God knows, the point of eating ice cream is to worry about fat, sugar and calories!

Exactly!

Nope. Must be shelf stable and FDA approved.

You must make your own ice cream from organic raw milk if you want 100% all natural.
