You created their expectations. They should not be judged too harshly for counting on you. We all do certain things we don't want to do in the name of family unit when the kids are small, but we retain the right to change.

And she hasn’t come back to apologize. Which she should.

I would have said you can't come because you have work commitments. And your DH should have gone to bat for you once they started chirping about needing you to mow. This never should have gotten to the point of them making a direct plea to you to still come.

They could probably find a local Hhunter that would be more than happy to maintain the property more than once a year for access to the land. It might become an issue later down the road but as long as it’s clear, it’s for only hunting rights on the property and people can’t camp there it might work.

My dad mowed a farm with his brothers for deer hunting access.

Why can't your kids mow the lawn? Presumably, they're old enough to drive the lawn mower .

Or at least your dh can drive around the mower.

It was NOT defined as a yard by the OP. It is just one of the fields so think in terms of acres of uncultivated land for just 1 of the fields. Stuff that is normally done a couple of times per season using a tractor not a ride on mower.

I usually opt out of IL stuff whenever possible due to my having almost no time all to myself. Thankfully my DH is fine with it. FIL isn’t fine with it. Can’t tell with the MIL. I feel guilty but I have to take care of myself too.

So that workcamp thing you have done all this time doesn’t sound appealing. The ILs seem to be expecting a lot. Maybe DH should float the idea that your schedules have gotten busy and maybe they should think about selling the land—it is too labor intensive.
