Is this the part where you tell us how the three bicyclists killed in DC over the past five years is a huge deal but the 15,000 annual crime victims is no biggie?

Where I grew up, the police set up sobriety checkpoints to catch drunk drivers. Here no one cares if a driver is completely blitzed.

Or stoned out of their mind on marijuana, and still driving all over DC with zero worry about being arrested or even stopped.

“No pursuit policy.” You voted for this. It’s your city council.

What are you gonna do? Vote differently??

The risks of pursuing people for something like running a red light don't come anywhere near the benefits of locking them up immediately, especially given how many cameras there are around the city. If this driver almost hit a pedestrian, what makes you think the cop wouldn't have hit them?

so tell me then, what incentives are there for me to not run every red light?

Not getting broadsided by oncoming traffic?

They're legally not allowed to pursue. Take it up with the DC Council.

Our government has been captured by the far left, which believes the police are the problem, not crime

The problem with the police is that they won't do their job. If they won't do their jobs, then they shouldn't get paid.

Seen this sentiment here before. I suspect it was from you. It’s hard to imagine there are 2 people who can follow these threads and not understand that police powers have been greatly restricted by local councils.

Name the specific policy that you disagree with. Or are you just following conservative media?

Wow talk about deflection and gaslighting. The republicans are a criminal organization and oppose any policing. Look at them attack the DOJ, the Capitol police and the blind support of corrupt SCOTUS judges.

What do you expect MPD to do - chase criminals?

OOOPS - the city council you elected imposed a “no chase policy” on MPD, so they literally can not chase criminals on a vehicle.

Elections have consequences. Enjoy your choice and stop complaining.
