I'm sure that person is trolling. GMU is recommended by FCPS and supposedly they are more unbiased than going to a private psychologist.
Wasn’t trolling. When you want something like a Wisc done, it’s best to do your research and find a good. When you go somewhere recommended by the county, they typically tend to go along with county agenda. It’s business and they want to keep an entity happy that’s bringing them revenue.
When you go to a university it’s a students passing through doing the exam and that’s not the same as a professional trying build a reputable business.
I was in a similar situation for one of my kids where the county recommended an outside WISC examiner named Ling in Reston. Guy was terrible and didn’t care about being accurate. He only wanted to make the county happy. I learned the hard way.
There are some good examiners out there like mindwell, Dr. Daisy, there’s a group in Maryland that starts with a W, and there are more. Just have to do your research, but going in the blind somewhere the county recommended is probably gonna be like asking the county what they think the Wisc is going to look like.
However, if you go somewhere not recommended by the county, they will usually ignore the result.

Not true for us either. We went to private psychologist for WISC and appeal was approved.

Yes, they charge less. It's students doing it.

Our kid took WISC at GMU, they seem professional. Our kid got exceptionally high FSIQ, and the appeal was successful. NNAT and CoGAT was very high, GBRS was not so great, 1c2f1o. We are Asian as well.

What pyramid and what were the other scores such as cogat, nnat, and gbrs? Honestly our scores weren't the best and we got in on appeal due to good gbrs. We're Asian btw.

This is such a ridiculous statement. Why is so hard to believe that your kid earned the score they got? Not every kid gets into AAP and they will be fine. It’s not the end all, be all.

I posted previous comment about GMU. I could not tell you details here but I am assure that our kid got low score because examiner purposely did that. I was confident that it was did because the examiner had discrimination based on our race/ nationality. That person might be trolling. But it seems that some people did have bad experiences with GMU. Very interesting 🤔
