Are you going to apply the clay bar afterward and then put on a new coat of wax or ceramic coating? Otherwise the dawn dish soap is too harsh and strips the car of any paint protection and top coat.

Yeah, I’ve never seen the oaks affected like this year. There’s also a major scale thing happening with crepe myrtles.

It’s annoying but the oaks should be fine.

Interesting. We have a large oak tree out front and have had the sticky stuff coating our cars for a couple weeks now (at least). It's awful and in the 10 years we've lived in our house I don't remember it being nearly this bad! I wondered if it was related to the lack of rain. But I disagree with that article that a "quick rinse" will take care of it. Totally not our experience- we've washed the cars several times and gone through lots of windshield wiper fluid and its really hard to get off, whatever it is.

Thought some kids were spraying me with vape pens or something.

PP here - I'm sure mine must have been from trees. It wasn't just in a few spots it was evenly over the entire car. And it preceded the wildfire smoke so I can't blame Canada.

I took my car to the car wash this afternoon and it came right off. It had gotten to the point where I couldn't see clearly out the side windows, and the front windshield was very streaky even after using half my windshield washer fluid.
