OP suggested she’d put the $30k into a 529. According to an online calculator, that would grow to ~$90k by the time OP’s kids are in college absent any other savings at all. Personally, I would miss out on 3 months of my kid’s toddlerhood if it meant I could provide her with a college education almost debt free but obviously this calculus is different for everyone.

We don't necessarily NEED the money to cover bills or anything, but we've been living in our house for 8 years with the original 1963 kitchen and this contract could literally provide me a new kitchen in 3 months. If not a kitchen, it would be a huge asset to the kids' 529s and retirement savings.
This would be a major motivator for me. If your own kids are well-adjusted and your partner is fully on board I'd go for it.

Keep in mind this is what you will gross. After taxes will be quite a bit less depending on your circumstances. So I can't imagine you'll be redoing your kitchen with just this.
