that’s a sad life. 900 calories?

900 calories a day is not OK, and you'd be hard pressed for any literature to support this. I don't understand why Jeff allows these threads to devolve into celebrations of anorexia. It's disgusting and I think his advertisers should tread carefully.

I’m 5’9” and currently 185lbs down from 203 11 weeks ago. I’m sticking to around 1200-1300cal a day. This is helping me lost at a clip of just below 1.5lbs a week.

I try to eat healthy, but ultimately just focus on calorie count. Today I’ve had a banana, toast, 2 eggs and 1oz sausage. I’ll probably have a smoothie with protein powder for lunch. I try to keep it simple during the day because at night is when I like having my big meal.

I do about 12000 a day and it’s throughout the day. 3 dog walks and just plain or being on the move as a working mom.

I think the point of walking 10k steps is to be active throughout the day. Not just one big push.

Generally yes but protein helps build muscle which becomes increasingly important as we age. I don’t want to be frail in retirement. I want to be athletic.

This is the answer regardless of your current fitness regime. Sarcopenia is a big issue.

Most highly active people even in their 40s, 50s, and 60s have high protein requirements. Some don’t meet them. And they are sore all the time and their efforts aren’t met with the right range of protein for their needed nutrition profile.

My wife and I are embarking on a mostly non-meat diet starting next week. I’m cool with that, but we will be eating a lot of vegetable based protein. I don’t mind those foods, so we will see how this goes. I’m training for a half-distance triathlon in the fall, so I’ll know within a few weeks if the non-meat deal is going to work for me or not.

LOL! I was fine-boned too.... and 5'4' until last year and now I am having medium bones as I put on some 20 lbs at 52! If you are white, you aren't fine-boned, plus you totally have an eating disorder.
You should have seen how fine my bones I was when younger with all of my 107 lbs! Where did my fine bones go now????????????????????

I’m glad I’m not petite! That would be kind of miserable.

I weight train 4 days/week and run 2/week and live in the city so am walking when runnign errands.

HOW? HOW do you eat so much protein? According to my app, I should eat 60g of protein a day, and most days I don't even hit that. Do you eat beans with every meal?

how do you only hit 60? Are you a vegan?

and FYI while beans provide some protein they are not a high source of proteins compared to calories . Take black beans 114 cal serving only provided 7 g or protein. Lentils give 10 g in a 160 cal. much better bang for your buck with chicken breast 31 g in 160 calories.

NP. I’m not particularly concerned with macros, but I probably eat about 60 grams and no way could I ingest 130 grams. I don’t eat and wouldn’t want to eat meat and/or cheese with every meal. Nor do I like protein fortified items (whey protein, pea protein blend etc).

Cheese isn’t even that high in protein.

I absolutely do eat egg, seafood, or meat with every meal.

Honestly, in my early 50's, my calorie goal is as few calories as possible, to keep the weight off. I usually do IF for 18 hours, eating from 2-8 every day, and try to limit my foods to vegetables, lean proteins, nuts, some fruit, a little healthy fat, and a small amount of chocolate/bread. Usually works out to 1500 calories a day, sometimes a little more.

I do cardio 7x/week and lift 3-4x/week.

5'5", 135lbs. Just not a naturally thin person!

OP it works best if you reduce calories but while eating what you'd normally eat - so long as that's not ring dings and yo-yos.

I cut out all refined sugar and replaced with bananas, apples, cherries, etc. when I started on a 1200-1500/ day routine and that helped. I also drank decaf with 0% fat milk if I needed something more between meals.

But that's because I normally drink decaf and like fruit. Does that make sense?

well then that answers why you only hit 60 g/day. If you are happy and feel good there then no worries.
