This is hilarious!

My DD age 8 loves jean shorts and jean jackets, but it’s a battle if I suggest jean pants, so I don’t even try.

My observations:

Boys not at all.

Girls, sometimes, in some styles, but certainly not universal.

Your 11 yo son can’t pull up his own pants and button them?????

Exactly.

I had no idea about jeans being out of fashion for kids.

Are you not observant? Almost no kids wear jeans.

I refused to wear jeans until college, I think. I mostly refused to wear pants, since I found them neither flattering nor comfortable. I mostly went in for long skirts and dresses.

Which is to say: kids not wearing jeans is not the end of world. I gravitate toward jeans now as an adult because they’re practical and I’ve found styles I like.

This isn't new. 20 years ago most kids did not wear jeans most days.

My 12 year old son considers jeans “dressy”

My 10 yo DS wears jeans to school almost all the time. He does have a preference for a softer, slightly elastic jeans vs hard ones (you can find both types at Gap, JCrew, or similar stores), which is what I think people are commenting on. DS is very active and never complained about not being able to move freely while wearing jeans (even in the summer). His jeans probably saved his knees on several occasions (tore through jeans, skin barely scraped).
My other kid used to like jeans, but now sticks to soft cotton chinos. I like the polished look of both, but it is their decision in the end (I know I won’t have much say for too long ).
