I wish they’d come up with a new word for “breast buds.” We use the words “vagina” and “penis” at my house but we won’t be using “breast buds.”

Wow, these comments are so interesting to me. When I started middle school in 6th grade and we had to change in the locker rooms I was mortified to learn I was the only one without a bra (and got looks/teasing). I went out and bought myself bc my mom was being weird about it. I really didn’t need it but wanted it for changing purposes and to fit in.

Teens sometimes make poor clothing choices.

Do you choose to parent your teen? Or just abdicate?

I've noticed a lot less bra wearing since covid. I don't usually force my kids to wear one but I encourage it because of leering men.

If she wants to wear thick, non-clingy fabrics it’s fine. But so many shirts these days are thin and clingy and that would not work for me. When my DD was in this phase we discussed which tops needed a bra and which ones didn’t. But it’s like deodorant and toothpaste - it’s not a suggestion.

Just leave well enough alone. Let her tell you when she's ready for a bra.
