OP, while probably not a safety with those stats, look at Gonzaga. Engineering classes are small.

Her stats are in the green-ish (60/40) for our school for VA Tech. My son got in with a little bit higher GPA but lower test score.

That honestly shocks me. My son has a 3.7 UW and a 35 ACT (36 on Science, 35 math for a 36 STEM composite score) and I was under the impression that he has almost 0 chance of getting into VT engineering.

What about RIT? Tons of tech related majors, nice city, and good school.

Lafayette and RH would not be targets/safety either. Those would be more reach and low reach.

100% thank you for calling them out. SAT scores mean very little these days, I think the more important question is what math sequence has your daughter taken, is it the highest the school offers ? How has she done in those classes. I think that is a much better indicator, especially if she has done with in AP Calc AB/BC, than some a SAT/ACT score. That is only 1 piece of the puzzle. I'm sure you can google other small engineering schools - I haven't looked recently at the stats - but Rose-Hulman jumps to mind, Olin School of Engineering, I also believe Union College, and I thought there were a few other smaller engineering schools in the Midwest (Milwaukee School of Engineering). I'm sure you can do more research. A big advantage is engineering schools need women.

Lehigh, VT and Bates are high reaches. Bates also does not have an engineering degree, just 5 year dual degree program.

UMBC, ODU and Clarkson are good.

Add WPI and Union as high targets

Maybe add Manhattan College, Marquette and York College

Check out Merrimack College in Andover MA

University of San Diego. No bar to switching to engineering if you apply to another major.

Fairfield University could be a good fit.

Not for engineering or hard sciences unless she is okay with high pressure weed out classes where the class average on exams might be a 40 or 50. Granted, the professors will curve but it’s tough to sweat it out wondering if a 40 will really be a B. Lehigh prides itself on “rigor.” It’s a great school for business, pretty good for arts and sciences, but you need to be a masochist to subject yourself to Lehigh STEM. Yes, the rewards post-graduation are great, but the hoops needed to jump through to get there are not for the feint of heart.

For WPI, I know boys with same GPA (3.5; weighted 4.0) (higher SATs, but they won't look at them) who were WL, so I think a girl with that GPA applying EA has a pretty good shot.
