I got my mom a blanket from shutterfly with photos of all the grandkids on it. As someone else mentioned, they are always cold and its nice for her to look down at her lap blanket and see her grandkids smiling back at her. Also, I noticed one time when we were visiting that she really liked stroking my daughter's stuffed animals so I had my daughter pick one out for her. She loved both gifts.

Please don't do this, as it's likely to increase the risk of bird strikes on the window (and most birds who strike windows end up dying). Also, then there's the mess on the ground, the attractant to mice/rats of spilled seed, etc. It's just a giant hassle and no good for anyone, including the birds.

Oh, disagree! This thing has been amazing for my family member. The caregivers love it too. There’s never been a bird strike on it and it’s well worth the mess and rodents (which we’ve never seen but I assume they’re there).

People with dementia often feel comforted looking at old photos. I’d give him a traditional photo album of family photos from throughout his life.

I think music is a great idea and you might consider doing it with an Alexa. It also plays games and such, which can be fun. And you can set up the playlists ahead of time.

My dad has dementia and because of his short attention span he no longer reads books or even newspaper articles. He always loved comics. I just sent him from Amazon a New Yorker book of comics. I don’t know if you’ve ever read the magazine, but they have awesome comics.
