So many more children were shot in the 90s. Why are you complaining?

Maybe fund things that are known to address this as opposed to bike lanes.
For every dollar that is going into maintaining bike lanes (snow removal?) hire a qualified social worked to support the middle schools.
Dictate that the schools need to use a phonics based curriculum so that everyone learns how to read. Provide real training for teachers - not DCPS created training of 1 teacher per school who is then supposed to teach all the other teachers.
Where is all the money going? Is it aligned with getting to the core of crime? You alienated a cohort of students for a year and a half and the "catch up" that you provided was crap.
Why are you surprised?
No, DC is already spending lavishly on social services, summer programs, violence interrupters, etc.
We need more police. We also need to lock up more violent criminals. It really works, plain and simple.

You see, we grew up in NYC in the 70s/80s so we knew how this movie would end. It’s been fun seeing those signs slowly and discreetly disappear over the past year.

You guys are being driven by a political narrative and not facts.
That was 21-22 not this year. Can you not read or is it just that you driven by a political narrative and not facts?
22-23 Burglary went down another 9% on top of the -10% that I mentioned earlier. Assault with a deadly weapon went up a mere 1% after the previous years huge drop of -17%….so in other words maintaining the huge progress from the prior year. Also, the elected officials have been the same for all of those years mentioned.
Burglary is down because the bad guys no longer have break into houses under the cover of darkness. That’s so 1990s. Now they just take your watch, phone, and jacket right off your back in broad daylight on the sidewalk.
